Dobbie03 decided to give sidboX a try after using Gnome-Shell for ages. If you have no idea what that’s all about, it’s ok — the end result is a gorgeous, custom Linux desktop that we can all admire.
Dobbie03 discovered that sidboX is great. It’s feature-rich, lightweight, and of course, customisable. If you’re interested in Openbox and are a Linux user, you might want to give it a try. Here’s what you’ll need to make this look your own:
- The wallpaper
- CoverGloobus (from the AUR archive since it’s no longer in the AUR) and this Covergloobus theme from Dobbie03
- Conky, a lightweight system monitor for Linux systems (with a custom theme)
- The Vimix Dark theme
- The Plank dock and application launcher
- The Tint2 system panel and taskbar
If you’re not sure about any specific part of the whole setup, make sure to head over to Dobbie03’s kinja blog, linked below, to ask all about it. He’s great at explaining how he set everything up, and linking out to downloads when necessary. While you’re there, let him know how much we love his work too!
