These ‘Carrot Dogs’ Are The Only Way You’ll Ever Want To Eat Carrots Again

Carrots are perfect for so many preparations, from salads to soups, but these “carrot dogs” are an unusual, tasty way to cook them. Best of all, they’re easy to make with ingredients you either have already, or can get easily.

You can cook these a few different ways depending on which flavours you want to highlight and how much time you have. Serious Eats has a relatively quick version: take a peeled carrot and cover it with a mixture of butter and miso, then roast it in the oven until tender. Pop it onto a bun and add your favourite toppings. Yum!

Ela Gale has a version that takes a little more preparation ahead of time (shown in the video above). You’ll need: liquid smoke, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, garlic salt, black pepper, water and of course carrots. Peel the carrots, then boil them until soft. You can even use your peeler to shape them into a hot dog. Marinate them in the rest of the ingredients overnight. When you’re getting ready to serve them, brown them in a pan with a bit of the marinade. For the full recipe, watch the video above.

Of course, you can make these as a veggie friendly option for barbecues and get-togethers, but they’re also just a delicious way to eat carrots.
