Optus Streaming Australian Open For Free

AustralianOpenOptus’s plan to offer free live streaming to mobile phones from the 2010 World Cup for its customers obviously gave it some ideas. It will also offer a free live stream of Channel Seven’s live coverage of the Australian Open tennis next month.

The broadcasts, which run from January 18-31, will be accessible to any Optus customers using a 3G phone, including the iPhone. The time zone match-up makes this more appealing than the World Cup in some ways, though on occasion Seven itself will be delaying match transmission to maximise TV ratings.
