This Tiny Vibrator Gives You Hands-Free Lovin’ During Sex

The Eva is billed as the first hands-free (straight) couples vibrator. This petite wonder rests on top of a woman’s clitoris, delivering powerful clitoral stimulation while she’s having intercourse with her man. But does it work? Here’s what we thought after taking the Eva for a spin.

The Specs

The Eva has a simple, vaguely space-aged look (almost like a character you’d see in a Pixar movie). It fits nicely in the palm and hardly weighs anything. It has a firm body, and two flexible “legs”. The toy has one large button for turning it on and off and adjusting the three unique power settings. The Eva is made of medical-grade silicone, and comes in aqua and lavender. The USB rechargeable device retails for $US105.

How to Use It

The Eva is designed to hug the labia and rest on top of the clitoris. To put the Eva in place, you squeeze the bendable “legs” of the toy and tuck them between your inner and outer labia. The legs expand, holding the Eva against your clitoris. It takes a few tries to get it right, so I’d recommend trying it on your own before using it with a partner. Using a mirror might also help get it in the right spot. From there, find the power setting that you like best. The Eva is designed to be as effortless as possible, so you simply leave it in place while having intercourse with your partner. You can also use it on your own, perhaps for a truly lazy hands-free masturbation session.

What I Loved

This is an incredibly smart product. I can’t speak highly enough about the mission behind the Eva. 70% of women can’t orgasm from penetration alone, a fact that the team at Dame Products is well aware of. They set out to help close the “orgasm gap” between straight men and women by giving women more clitoral stimulation as unobtrusively and unapologetically as possible.

It’s easy. Eva delivers great stimulation with very little effort. There’s nothing to hold in place or fiddle with, so your hands (and attention) are freed up to interact with your partner. So many women feel guilty or deficient for needing clitoral stimulation, but Eva makes it no big deal (as it should be!).

The vibrations are pretty powerful. It’s impressive for such a tiny toy.

What I Didn’t

It doesn’t fit every body. Here comes the hard part. Sex toys are tricky to review because people’s bodies are so different. What works for one person won’t work for another. As much as I loved the thought and design behind Eva, it didn’t work for my body. The vibrator protrudes from the bottom of the toy (meaning there’s not a flat surface sitting flush against your clitoris), and I actually found it to be somewhat painful to have the Eva pushing against me. Since the Eva sits right in the middle of all of the action, it’s damn near impossible to avoid this type of pressure. I read other reviews of the Eva, and no one else mentioned this issue, so my experience may have been far outside of the norm.

It’s hard to keep it in place. Eva is meant to be hands-free. It’s an awesome idea in theory, but doesn’t always pan out in real life. The legs of the toy can grip the labia decently well, but it’s not like you’re supergluing it to yourself. The Eva frequently gets dislodged, or just falls off all together. It’s pretty easy to keep it in place during Missionary and woman on top since your bodies are pinned close to each other, but forget about doggystyle. It also slides around more if you use lube, which is a bummer for a lube evangelist like myself.

It could use more options. I’m getting nitpicky now, but it would be nice to have more than three power settings. Some vibrational patterns would be great too, since many women don’t like constant vibration.

The vibrations are inescapable. For some women, the clitoris can be a bit finicky with vibration. You can be plugging along at a nice steady pressure, then all of a sudden your body recoils involuntarily, as if to say, “whoa now! Too much!” When you’re using a vibrator on your own, it’s easy to pull it away from your clitoris when the sensation gets too intense. With Eva, the vibrator is pinned into place, so it’s hard to make any adjustments. In the future, it would be nice to see it attached to a remote or app, so you could change the intensity easily. Of course, that would take away from the effortless nature of the Eva, but it’s a trade-off I’d be willing to make.

Who Should Buy It

Women who like clitoral stimulation. Yeah, that’s a pretty wide category, but this toy really has the possibility to transform a lot of women’s experiences with intercourse. It’s a particularly valuable toy for women who feel shy about touching themselves during intercourse.

Guys who like a little vibration. This toy can be fun for the menfolk out there too, since you get to feel the vibration against the base of your penis.

Couples who love Missionary. Even women who can orgasm from penetration alone tend to struggle during Missionary. It’s a great position for feeling close to your partner, but doesn’t deliver the most intense stimulation for women. If you love Missionary but are longing for a bit more “oomph”, this is a great toy for you.

The Final Verdict

Even though my personal experiences weren’t fantastic, I still think the Eva is an awesome toy for most women out there. I’d probably avoid it if you’re sensitive to too much clitoral pressure, or if you usually have vigorous sex in creative positions, but it should work for a lot of women. I’m also pulled towards giving it my seal of approval because I love the mission of Dame Products, and their no-nonsense approach towards sex toys. We need more toys like the Eva on the market.
