How To Quickly Ripen Bananas For Baking

We normally only think about making banana bread or smoothies when our bananas are too ripe to eat as is, but why wait? A trip through the oven at 150C is all it takes to get those bananas soft and sweet.

Just layer your bananas on an oven tray and let them bake at 150C for about an hour. They’ll turn shiny and black, and they’ll definitely be hot to the touch. But according to Jessica at Cleen Green Simple, the long trip through the oven simulates the ripening process, and the end result is super-soft, extra-sweet bananas. Just toss them in the fridge until they’re cool enough to handle, then peel them open and mix them up for banana muffins, pancakes banana bread, or toss them into the blender.

We’ve shown you how to slow down the ripening process so your bananas last longer, but this is a handy way to speed it up. Do you have a different method? Share your kitchen tips in the comments below.
