Happy weekend, everyone, and welcome back to 3-Ingredient Happy Hour, the weekly drink column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. This week we’re making a beverage that’s perfect for those times you cannot leave your home due to ice, snow, and bomb cyclones.

If you’re going to be outdoors, enjoying the weather, you’re going to need a drink, and it should be a party drink. Traditional margaritas are great for summer, but you can add a nice twist in the form of smoky mezcal. To make it, you will need:
- 40mL mezcal (I used blanco)
- 30mL fresh lime juice (or not fresh, if you’re stuck inside and only have bottled)
- 20mL agave syrup (made with two parts agave nectar to one part water)
Combine everything in a shaker filled with ice (or one big ice cube) and shake until well chilled. Strain into a coupe glass and sip until you are no longer stir crazy. If you’re still bored, send some risky texts. That always livens things up.
