SEEK has updated their mobile app for iOS and Android with a bunch of new features. As well as being able to manage your job seeker profile, and upload and edit a CV or personalised cover letter, you can now apply for job in less time than it takes to tell your boss what they can do with your current job!
The updated app connects with cloud storage services such as Google Drive and Dropbox so you can easily attach a document. SEEK says the new app, which was soft-launched in March has delivered a 75% boost in mobile job applications. Given almost tow thirds of the service’s traffic is now mobile this represents a big boost. Interestingly, Android visits have almost doubled since last year, to upwards of 4 million a month.
Michael Ilczynski, Managing Director ANZ at SEEK said, “Looking at the numbers, since January 2017 we have seen 86,000 CVs uploaded and 68,000 deleted, indicating the people want to not just upload, but also tailor and manage CVs for varying roles in a matter of seconds from their mobile”.
While the numbers are pretty solid, they’re not surprising. There’s a growing cohort of people who only use traditional computers for a limited number of tasks with mobile devices fulfilling personal needs. And given some companies keep an eye on who is visiting employment websites, using your smartphone makes sense if you don’t want the boss to know you’re on the move.

Thats NOT a good thing. If your not tailoring your applications to the advertised roll… your just spamming applications that not good for either employer or job seeker.
THIS! If you actually want a job, don’t do this. Take the time to tailor your cover letter, selection criteria and indeed CV.
This article is for two types of people:
– Generic job seekers (casual, low level retail etc)
– Folks on centrelink who have to pretend they looked for jobs so they can get free money.
