Ratehacker: April’s Best Credit Card, Savings Account And Home Loan Deals

In our monthly Ratehacker round-up, Jeremy Cabral from comparison site finder.com.au highlights the latest credit card deals, plus the best savings accounts and home loans.

Credit Cards

Feature: 0 percent balance transfer

NAB Premium Visa Card: 0% on balance transfer for 24 months This is one of the longest-running balance transfer deals on the market right now. Note that there is a one-off balance transfer fee of 3%, so you’ll need to factor the cost of that into your calculations. The purchase rate on the card is 19.74%.

Feature: Frequent flyer credit card with bonus points

Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card: Bonus points offer During the first three months of card use after approval, you’ll qualify for 2 bonus points per $1 spent (capped at a maximum of 10,000 points per month). The standard earn rate on the card is 0.66 points per $1 spent up to $1,500 per month, and 0.5 points per $1 thereafter. There’s also a 0% balance transfer offer for 18 months for eligible applicants.

Feature: 0% purchase rate

St.George Vertigo Visa: 0% on new purchases for 6 months After 6 months, the rate on new purchases reverts to 13.24%, which is still a competitive rate. The annual fee on the card is $55.

Home Loans

Feature: Variable rate home loan

loans.com.au Essentials Home Loan: 3.61% per annum comparison rate A perennial Ratehacker favourite, this loan offers one of the lowest variable rates on the market right now. To qualify for the bottom rate, you’ll need to be an owner-occupier, and you’ll need a 20% deposit saved. Owner-occupiers who seek an interest-only loan can qualify for a 3.81% per annum comparison rate.

Feature: Investor loan

UBank UHomeLoan (Variable Rate): 4.24% per annum comparison rate for interest only The market for investor loans remains tough, so this is one of the most competitive offers out there right now. You’ll need a minimum 20% deposit.

Savings Accounts

Feature: Incentive saver

ING DIRECT Savings Maximiser: 3% per annum bonus interest rate To qualify for the higher rate, you’ll need to deposit at least $1,000 each month and link your account to an ING Orange Everyday account. There’s no penalty for withdrawals from the savings account. The maximised rate applies on balances up to $100,000.

Personal Loans

Feature: Unsecured personal loan

Pepper Money Unsecured Personal Loan: Comparison rate from 9.99% per annum You can borrow up to $50,000 with this loan. The rate is fixed but customised for each applicant depending on circumstances.

Feature: Fixed rate new car loan

IMB New Car Loan: Comparison rate from 6.34% per annum This loan is available for new car purchases up to $75,000, and has a competitive rate. There’s a $250 application fee, with loan terms from 1 to 7 years.

Travel Insurance
