Blenders are loud, but they can seem even more so because of the vibrations they send through the counter and into the walls. To keep your blender from waking people up and deafening yourself, Sheela Prakash at The Kitchn suggests you fold a tea towel and place it under the blender. The vibrations will be absorbed and won’t travel through the building as much. It helps to pull your blender away from the walls too, so sound doesn’t bounce off and shoot all the noise down the hall. Your blender will still be loud (blenders will be blenders), but this trick might quiet it just enough so people sleeping upstairs or a few doors down from the kitchen won’t be awakened.
