Superhero Workout Turns Your Exercise Routine Into A Story-Driven Game

iOS: Gamifying workouts is nothing new, but a new game from the developers of Zombies, Run!, Superhero Workout, changes things up. It adds an actual story to your workout, so it’s worth checking out if you’re looking to add a bit of narrative to your workouts.

Much like Zombies, Run! Superhero Workout incentives you to work out more often by adding gamification elements alongside a narrative. This time around, you’re tasked with saving the world with your Iron Man-esque battle suit. As far as the workout itself is concerned, Superhero Workout includes a wide variety of short workouts to train train specific body parts as well as overall training like the 7-minute workout.

Unlike similar apps, Superhero Workout uses motion tracking to count your reps. Just set up your phone on a table, get in front of the front-facing camera, and Superhero Workout tracks what you’re doing while displaying a guide for how to properly do each exercise. It’s certainly not perfect, but it works surprisingly well once you get it set up in a place where it can actually see what you’re doing. If you have an Apple TV, you can also display the screen on your TV so you can set up your iPhone in a better spot and still see the workout guides. You can snag it on iOS right now and an Android version is coming soon.
