After a big painting or staining project it’s easy to shuffle away and hide the paint cans in storage, but before you do that, Make Magazine user Craig Smith suggests you label the cans with the name of whatever you painted.
It’s as easy as taking 15 seconds and writing the objects name on the bottom of the can. This is most handy if you’re staining a lot of wood and have several different brands and shades of one colour. When you inevitably go back for a touch-up or to stain it again, you’ll know the exact shade and type you used. It’s simple but it’s better than holding up the picture on the can and comparing it to your furniture.
