New Year’s Eve is the time for indulgent, booze-based frivolity, and nothing is quite so extra as doling out little bottles of spirits, frozen in a cube of ice fit for a Collins glass. It’s a very “bottle service” party trick, and it’s not that difficult to execute.

Ice master Camper English of Alcademics can walk you through the whole process on his blog, but you’ll need a cooler, plastic gift boxes, and little bottles of your favourite ethanol.
Place the little boxes with the the little bottles down inside the cooler as shown, fill the whole cooler with water, and place the cooler either in a freezer or out in the snow (if you happen to live a climate that has snow this time of year). The water will freeze from the top down, with the clearest ice forming on the bottom around the bottles.
Once it’s frozen in a solid block, slide the whole cube out, then break off the gift boxes, and slide the individual cubes out of the boxes. Place the cubes in Collins glasses, put on some house music and marvel at the club-like atmosphere you have cultivated in your very own home.

And then what? I don’t get it? Can’t drink it, can’t use it as ice, can’t give it to anyone as it’s gonna start melting instantly?
Exactly…
All people end up with is a cold wet thing they can’t drink yet.
