Happy Friday, my friends and welcome back to 3-Ingredient Happy Hour, the weekly drink column featuring super simple yet delicious libations. This week we’re making quite the delicious beverage: the tart and apple-y Jack Rose.

I know winter is over, but the weather keeps fluctuating between hot and cold, leaving me unsure what kind of alcohol I should be putting in my body. Applejack is the answer here and this cocktail has a good bit of it.
In addition to Laird’s apple jack (which fortunately reentered the Australian market last year), this drink also features tart, sunny-tasting lemon juice and a bit of grenadine. If you are a very fancy person with very fancy tastes, you can make your own grenadine out of pomegranate juice, but I won’t be judging anyone for using store-bought.
To make the drink-of-two-seasons, you will need:
- 70mL Laird’s applejack
- 30mL fresh lemon juice
- 15mL grenadine
Combine all ingredients in a stirring glass filled with ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a strip of zest from the lemon you just squeezed.
