- Shadow Minister for Communications and Broadband Malcolm Turnbull has claimed that the National Broadband Network (NBN) is closer to $90 billion than the $37.4 billion estimated by NBN Co, according to Macquarie Bank’s calculations. Stephen Conroy, meanwhile, has labelled the claims a “fact-free zone”. Read the full report here.

Students from Tsukuba University in Japan have developed an item of clothing that simulates the embrace of a loved one. The ‘Fulfillment Coat’ comes with two inbuilt robotic pincers that are controlled via a USB connection. - We speculated on whether Australia would get the 8-core Exynos version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone in our coverage of the launch. Samsung has now confirmed the bad news: “The Samsung GALAXY S 4 will be available in Australia with the Quad-core 1.9 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Series 600 processor and 4G LTE compatibility.” On the plus side, the company also announced that the beefier eight core version would be 3G only.
