You Can Get 50% Off Paramount+ With Showtime Right Now

If you’ve been thinking about adding Paramount+ (Star Trek! Many Yellowstone spinoff!), Showtime (Yellowjackets!), or both to your streaming lineup — or maybe subscribing in lieu of paying for your own Netflix account — now is the time to see if you like what these services have to offer, because you can get them both for half-off for three months.

Previously, you had a few options for signing up for Paramount+: Paramount+ Essential, an ad-supported plan for $US4.99 ($7)/month; Paramount+ Premium, an ad-free plan for $US9.99 ($14)/month; and a bundle of Paramount+ Premium with Showtime for $US11.99 ($17)/month. On June 27, that’s changing: Paramount+ and Showtime will merge into one streaming service, with the option to subscribe to ad-free Paramount+ without Showtime going away.

All subscribers on an ad-free plan will henceforth be charged $US11.99 ($17) per month for ad-free Paramount+ with Showtime. Paramount+ Essential is also going up in price, to $US5.99 ($8) per month (a $US1 ($1) increase); the ad-supported plan doesn’t include any Showtime content. (When the new plan pricing begins, current subscribers will be asked to consent to the change.)

Get 50% off for three months — or pay in advance and lock in the current price

But from May 25 until June 4, Paramount+ is offering 50% off — which comes to $US5.99 ($8) per month — for the first three months for new subscribers to Paramount+ with Showtime. After the 90-day free trial is up, your subscription will renew at the full price unless you cancel.

If you’re confident you want to keep the service for a full year, however, you have a cheaper alternative: Paramount+ offers a savings with an annual subscription, paid in advance. Right now, you can sign up for a year of Paramount+ Premium for $US100 ($139) (versus $US120 ($167) for a year of Premium With Showtime); a company spokesperson confirmed that people on an annual plan will automatically receive Showtime content on June 27 but won’t have to pay the higher rate until their accounts are up for renewal.

That means you can sign up for an annual plan now and effectively pay $US8.33 ($12) a month for Paramount+ Premium with Showtime instead of the regular $US11.99 ($17) price. (If you do the maths, this still saves you $US25 ($35) versus paying $US5.99 ($8)/month for three months and $US11.99 ($17)/month for nine months.)

What you get with Paramount+ and Showtime

Paramount+ gives you access to Paramount’s movies and shows, including exclusive originals like the many Star Trek series (Discovery, Picard, Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks), the Tyler Sheridan-verse (1883, 1923, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown), and others. The streamer also offers live sports, including NFL, UEFA Champions and Europa League, Serie A, and CBS sports. On the ad-free plan, you can also watch CBS programming and additional sports without commercials.

Showtime adds in series like Yellowjackets, Waco: The Aftermath, Uncoupled, and Rabbit Hole as well as films like the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once.
