The new Samsung Galaxy Note9 is available for pre-order and the local telcos have fronted up with the plans if you want to go that route and not buy the latest phablet from Samsung. Here's what they're offering.
Buying The Galaxy Note9 Outright
The Galaxy Note9 comes in six variants: 128GB and 512GB with options for Metallic Copper, Midnight Black and Ocean Blue. There's also a Lavender Purple option but that doesn't seem to available in Australia.
Until August 23 2018, if you order the Galaxy Note9, you'll get the 512GB version for $1499 - the price of the 128GB. After that, the 512GB version jumps to $1799.
You can order directly from Samsung as well as a bunch of other retailers.
Telstra Galaxy Note9 Plans
Telstra is offering the 128GB and 512GB versions of the phone in Midnight Black and Ocean Blue. It seems the Metallic Copper option isn't too popular as none of the local carriers will be offering it.
We've already covered the full set of Note9 plans, which you can read bout here:
If you fancy a shiny new Galaxy Note9, Telstra is offering some pretty sweet deals. Along with the Note9, which comes with 512GB of storage for the price of 128GB, Telstra is throwing in a Galaxy Tab A at no extra cost. The device is being offered under Telstra's new plans, which aim to simplify life for consumers.
Optus Galaxy Note9 Plans
Optus has the Galaxy Note9 on its 24 month My Plan Flex (lease) for $85 per month, with $10 per month handset repayments (min. total cost $2,280) and 20GB of included monthly data. Assuming Samsung releases an updated device at the same time next year, there's an option to upgrade then if you cough up another $99, return your current phone in good working order and sign up to a new 24-month plan. There are damage and cancellation fees so make sure you read the fine print.
Optus is also offering the Samsung pre-order offer of a complimentary memory upgrade on the Galaxy Note9 so you get the 512GB handset for the price of the 128GB unit.
You can pre-order and check out all the plans at the Optus Galaxy Note9 order page.
Vodafone Galaxy Note9 Plans
Vodafone is offering the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 512GB for the price of a 128GB if you order with a Red or Red Plus Plan before 23 August 2018.
Vodafone separates the handset payment from the carrier charges so you can put together a plan that suits you.
Here are the charges for the 512GB Samsung Galaxy Note9 from Vodafone:
- 12 months: $124.91
- 24 months: $62.45
- 36 months: $41.63
You can then pair the handset with a suitable call and data plan.
- Basic Plan: 2GB of data for $35/month
- Basic plan: 20GB of data, 1000 minutes of calls, bonus 5GB of data per month for $45/month

The Red Plus Plan for $60 per month is a special offer and looks like the pick of what Vodafone is offering. All the plans are month to month so, other than the handset payments, there's no lock-in. And some of the plans offer loyalty discounts as well.
