Technically, the French 75 is a four-ingredient cocktail, and contains gin, lemon juice, simple syrup (or a sugar cube) and champagne. Here we streamline things a bit by using cloudy lemonade which is, after all, lemon juice and sugar water. In terms of bubbles, keep things on the dry side, but feel free to use any kind of sparkling wine, be that Champagne, prosecco or cava. You could even use sparkling rosé – with pink lemonade? – to make things extra rosy for Mum (or yourself). To make this drink, you will need:

  • 45ml gin
  • 30ml cloudy lemonade (try pink!)
  • Sparkling wine of your choice

Pour the gin and lemonade in a flute and give it a little stir. Top with chilled sparkling wine, and enjoy with a fancy brunch.
