We finally have a premiere date for Game Of Thrones Season 7 in Australia. As previously reported, the first episode will appear on Foxtel (and myriad torrent sites) three months later than usual. Here's everything you need to know.
When does Game Of Thrones season 7 begin in Australia?
The premiere date for the seventh season of Game Of Thrones is July 16. (July 17 in Australia.) Locally, the first screening will commence on Foxtel at approximately 11am with an encore screening in prime time. Foxtel Now customers with an appropriate package can select the show from 'Watch Anytime' immediately after the initial broadcast.
The wait is finally almost over. on July 17, the seventh season of HBO's award-winning fantasy series Game Of Thrones will premiere around the world. It promises to be the most action-packed season yet, with the Starks, Lannisters, Targaryens and White Walkers all marching towards their penultimate endgames. We have no idea who's going to survive and we can't wait to find out!
Why was Game Of Thrones Season 7 delayed?
Production of Game Of Thrones Season 7 was postponed due to issues with the weather. In short, the filmmakers needed to wait for real snow to fall while shooting on location. (Winter is coming, remember?) This held back production significantly and forced a change in the broadcasting schedule.
How many episodes does Game Of Thrones Season 7 have?
Season seven will also be shorter at just seven episodes long (this is unrelated to the scheduling delay.) Personally, we think this will make for a stronger whole. In previous seasons, there were always one or two episodes that felt a bit slow and contributed little to the overall plot. By cutting these filler episodes out, we should have a much tighter and exciting season on our hands.
The hugely popular TV series Game Of Thrones is set to return on July 17. If you're one of the many Aussies who have been spooked away from piracy, you're going to need a cheap and legal way to watch.
Is Game Of Thrones still a Foxtel exclusive?
Unfortunately, yes.. If you want to watch the show legally without paying Foxtel, you will need to subscribe to HBO Now via a VPN or wait for the digital release on Android/iOS at the end of the season.
Foxtel has announced a revamped high-definition video streaming service dubbed Foxtel Now - and it's priced competitively with Stan and Netflix. With subscriptions starting at just $10 per month, it's a far cry from the company's prohibitively expensive Pay TV offerings. But what do you actually get for your ten dollarydoos?
What are the plot details?
Game Of Thrones Season 7 will pick up directly after Season 6 with the dragon princess Daenerys Targaryen finally launching her conquest of Westeros. Meanwhile, Jon Snow has been crowned King Of The North which will likely put him on Queen Cersei's shit list - although with an invading army amassing on King's Landing's doorstep we imagine her hands will be pretty full. But the real threat remains the mysterious, otherworldly White Walkers who will surely breach the Wall this season and attack everybody - Targaryen, Stark and Lannister alike. You can also expect Jon and Daenerys to finally meet face to face.
If you're keen for spoilers, huge swathes of plot from Season 7 have allegedly been leaked online. HBO has refused to confirm if the leaks are genuine, but the details are very credible. You can check out all the revelations about Seasob 7 on Reddit (spoilers, obviously.)
