In other words: dont be a pretentious git. Cook something simple, and cook it well, with a twist if you like. Eg: whip up some bigmac sauce and some buns the day before, then on the day cook some home made burgers mushrooms bacon and eggs and let people assemble their own at the table. Is the middle class formal dinner party actually all that common in Australia?
