Open A Bottle Of Wine With A Key

Opening a wine bottle without a corkscrew is not ideal, but you’re bound to forget or lose it one of these days. Fortunately, this key trick works great and there’s very little risk of ruining the key in the process.

In this video, youtuber DaveHax shows you how to pop a wine cork with a tool everyone has in their pockets. Remove one of the tougher looking keys from your keychain, then force it into the cork diagonally. This will require some serious pressure, so you might want to use your shirt or a rag as padding. Once you have it in as far as you can go, use the key as a handle to rotate and pull the cork simultaneously. After a bit of work, your should be able to grab the cork and pull it right out. Usually tricks like this require you to use some kind of leverage, which puts the key at risk of bending, but not with this approach. All you need is a little elbow grease.
