Make Watermelon Smoothies In Seconds With A Drill And A Coat Hanger

Watermelon is delicious, and a great basis for summer drinks. Here’s a quick and fun way to make watermelon smoothies at an outdoor event where you may not have a blender. All you need is a cordless drill, a clean coat hanger, and a watermelon.

YouTuber Mark Rober shows us how it’s done in the video above. Cut a small hole in the watermelon, shape the coat hanger into a long “u” shape, and put the coat hanger into the drill chuck. Shove the hanger attachment into the watermelon, and pull the trigger. It will take about 30 seconds or so (longer if you want “smoother” smoothies).

You can mount a plastic cup or pour nozzle to the opening to make pouring easy, but the whole process takes seconds and leaves no messy cleanup behind. Just watch out for the seeds in that pulpy watermelon puree you’re about to enjoy. If you want to amp up the flavour a little bit, you could probably pour a little something into the watermelon after you’ve pulled the drill back out — kind of like a modified version of the previously-mentioned and well-loved watermelon keg.
