Don’t Forget To Pick Up Your Free McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin Today

For the past few weeks, McDonald’s Australia has been offering free breakfast treats each Monday morning. Today, it’s my favourite menu item’s turn: the Sausage McMuffin.

For today only (Monday 19 August), McDonald’s is offering a free Sausage McMuffin to the first 1000 customers that visit participating stores from 7am to 10am (it doesn’t seem as if anyone actively keeps count). The Sausage McMuffin normally costs $2.60.

There’s no obligation to make an additional purchase, although we have heard reports of staff asking customers if they’d like to add anything to their order. Mind you, this is pretty standard McDonald’s behavior, so we’re willing to forgive any upsell attempts.

As we’ve previously noted, the deal isn’t available in Queensland, South Australia or the Northern Territory, and individual stores may elect not to participate.

There’s also a restriction of one McMuffin per customer, although if you live in a CBD location there’s nothing stopping you from visiting multiple outlets. In fact, you could probably waltz straight back into the same store and just line up in front of a different counter — the chances of anyone noticing or caring are slim to zilch, as our editor Angus Kidman found a couple of weeks ago when he scored six free hash browns across the centre of Melbourne.

Another thing worth noting is that the deal is for a plain Sausage McMuffin rather than the more expensive Sausage and Egg variety.

Nevertheless, it’s difficult to argue with free food. Make sure to grab yours on the way to work — I know I will be.
