Canon Says Camera Supply Situation Is “Improving” Post-Tsunami

Yesterday, we wrote about the impact of the Japanese tsunami on supplies of SLR cameras, with particular reference to Canon. Canon subsequently got in touch to clarify its own position: apparently, the supply situation is “improving”.

More specifically, Canon pointed us to this quote from its consumer imaging director Jason McLean in a recent press release:

We’ve managed our way very well through the challenges of the first half posed by the Japan earthquake situation and, with product supply improving, we’re investing heavily for growth in the second half.

“Improving” doesn’t equal “full supply”, but nor does it equal “nothing to buy here”.
