The former mobile kings at Nokia have unveiled a new mid-range Android dubbed the 7.1. It boasts some pretty impressive specs for the asking price – including inbuilt HDR. If you’re not looking to drop $2000 on a new smartphone, this one could be worth a look. Here are the Australian specifications, price details and release date.
Nokia 7.1 specifications
The Nokia 7.1 is being billed as the first smartphone with PureDisplay – which is basically a fancy marketing term for High Dynamic Range-quality images. It supports HDR10 (the current industry standard in consumer televisions) and can upscale non-HDR images on the fly.
People who like to cling onto the same phone for extended periods will be particularly well served by this phone – it comes with a guaranteed three years of monthly security patches and two years of OS updates.
In terms of components, the Nokia 7.1 acquits itself well for a mid-range phone: it comes with a ZEISS-designed 12-megapixel camera, a Snapdragon 636 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, a USB-C port for fast charging, a MicroSD card slot and a beefy 3060mAh battery. It’s also rocking a notch, which is either a good or bad thing depending on your viewpoint.
