Planning your meals ahead of time is great, but the next time you’re short on time and need a quick meal, use the “grain, green, bean” formula to throw together a healthy, filling dish from what you have around your fridge and pantry.

You just need a grain (anything from pasta to leftover takeaway rice will do), a green (any fibrous vegetable like spinach, broccoli or even lettuce) and a bean (canned will be the fastest, like chickpeas or even kidney beans). You can even use frozen veggies to make this last-minute meal idea even quicker. After you build your base of these three ingredients, add whatever spices, sauces or dressings you have on hand for a flavour boost.
This all makes for a hearty, healthy meal on its own, but you can also toss in other leftover items like chicken from last night’s dinner. Since this formula is versatile, you have a ton of options when it comes to what kinds of dishes you make, anything from soup to salad to stir fry works with this combo. With luck, you’ll have a perfect dinner for nights you don’t want to cook, and a healthy, affordable lunch to take to work in the morning without a ton of prep.

Where’s the beef?
It’s “Quick veggie meals” so obviously it’s a vegetarian dish. Hence why they only put veggies in it like “chicken from last night’s dinner”
So….no bacon either….that’s weird.
