If you have any cables that you routinely disconnect and reconnect (a laptop power cable, for example) you’ve probably dealt with the annoyance of having it fall to the floor. This can lead to it being snagged, yanked and otherwise damaged — but you can avoid all that with a paperclip and a bit of packing tape.
How-to website Snapguide suggests running the cable through the paper clip before connecting it, and then taping the paper clip to the edge of your surface to catch your cord before it falls to the ground. It’s a bit of a jankier version of similar binder clip cable catcher, and it’s worth considering if the lip of your workspace is too wide for the appropriately sized binder clip. Because there’s no way you don’t have binder clips. Hit the link for more pictures and video.

Binder clips don’t work if your desk is too thick, so thanks for the paper clip tip!
