Some people just can’t handle commitment. A 12- or 24-month contract might not be a big deal for some, but it’s hell for others. What if a better value phone plan comes along? A plan with loads more data? A plan with prettier eyes? The grass is always greener.
There’s good news though: there are a whole host of excellent no-contract SIM-only phone plans for you to keep it casual with. If a better deal comes around, you can leave whenever you want without the awkward breakup or early exit fees. You could even see a different telco every month.
So, if you’d prefer an open relationship with your provider, here’s a bunch of no-contract phone plans you can ghost quicker than a bad Tinder date.
No-contract phone plans with at least 15GB
While telcos often reserve their best deals for customers willing to commit, there are still plenty of great high inclusion contract-free plans around.
SpinTel currently offers the best bang-for-buck, with a 15GB plan for $25.95 per month. It’s also currently waiving its $10 SIM activation fee.
If you make calls overseas regularly, you might want to consider Belong. You’ll get 30GB for $40 per month on the Telstra network, and unlimited international talk and text to 33 selected countries. Belong plans also include data rollover and data gifting.
No-contract phone plans with at least 2GB
If you don’t need quite as much data or if you’re looking for a cheap no-contract plan for your kids, there are a few great deals at the lower end of the market.
Exetel is the cheapest around, offering 2GB for $8.99 per month, with unlimited talk and text.
SpinTel is a close second with 2GB for $9.95 per month. You only get 100 minutes of talk, but who makes phone calls anymore?
Need a little more data? Dodo has a 4GB plan for $20 per month.
