Online Games For New Or Young Programmers

We’ve talked in the past about online games that teach programming, with CodeCombat being one of the more popular options. However, it’s by no means alone and if you want to learn something besides JavaScript or Python, alternatives do exist for other languages.

As Six Revisions’ Jacob Gube points out, along with CodeCombat is Code Hunt, from Microsoft Research. It covers C# and Java and the presentation is somewhat simpler than CodeCombat.

CodeinGame goes a step further, offering many different languages — even a few more advanced options such as C and PHP. There’s also a co-operative multiplayer option when you don’t feel like figuring things out alone.

Gube covers several more options over at Six Revisions, so be sure to check out his suggestions.
