What To Look For In The Perfect Carving Board

Whenever you roast meat, having a great carving board can make the process a whole lot easier. You’ll have an easier time cutting the roast and collecting the juices. America’s Test Kitchen put ten boards through their paces and found the features that make for the perfect carving board.

Choose a board that is at least 50 by 35 by 2 cm — this allows room for your roast while still giving enough weight to keep the board from skidding across the counter. Stick to boards that have a deep trenches running around the edge of the board so they can catch all the juices. Avoid boards with custom features meant to keep the meat in place or spouts to pour the juices out — they tend to just get in the way of the carving process.
