Zest Collects And Organises Recipes, Helps You Cook Them Step-By-Step

iPad: There are plenty of great apps to help you organise your recipes, but Zest is a new addition to to the field with a lot of promise. Importing recipes from sites is a snap, and you can organise them by tag, category or ingredient. Plus, the app walks you through each recipe step-by-step, complete with cooking timers.

Zest lets you search for and import recipes from thousands of common recipe sites, and even if you find a recipe on a site that Zest doesn’t understand, it will walk you through adding it to your recipe collection so you always have it on-hand. Photos from those sites are imported along with the ingredients and instructions, and once you’ve cooked a dish, Zest allows you to add your own photos to the collection so you can see how it turned out in the real world. Tag your recipes by ingredient, meal type, or category to keep track of them (and make them searchable later), or just browse a tiled list of recipes with photos to find something interesting to make.

Once you have your recipes saved, you can customise them by swapping out ingredients or quantities. You can check off recipes in your list as you make them, so you can filter based on what you’ve made before and what you have yet to try. Zest also lets you share recipes with others, and will walk you through the cooking process while you’re in the kitchen. Just follow along with the recipe, let the built-in cooking timers tell you when to rotate, flip, or turn the heat up or down, and you’ll be all set.

Zest is free for the time being, but the app’s developer is running a survey in the app to see what features you’d be willing to pay for in a premium version, or as in-app upgrades. Hit the link below to try it out.
