Phones Edging Out Notebooks For BYO Device Users

Based on our recent survey of Lifehacker users, phones are rapidly overtaking laptops and notebooks as the BYO device of choice. Plus: who won the tablets we were giving away?

Previous research suggests that right now laptops remain the most common personal device in workplaces, but phones are catching up quickly. From the results in our recent Citrix-sponsored survey, it looks like Lifehacker readers are ahead of the curve: asked which devices most commonly get chosen in a BYO device context, with 65 per cent reporting that phones are the most common request. Notebooks come in second place with 17 per cent, followed closely by tablets with 14 per cent.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the survey. And congratulations to our two lucky tablet winners, Jesse Cameron and James Fryer.
