Synology DiskStation Manager Adds OneDrive And Azure Support

NAS developer Synology is updating its DiskStation Manager (DSM) NAS server management software to enhance its cloud backup capabilities. Version 5.1 of DSM will incorporate the ability to sync to Microsoft’s Azure cloud services and OneDrive cloud storage.

DSM can already sync to Amazon’s Glacier backup; version 5.1 adds the ability to download and delete individual files from within Glacier.

The beta version of DiskStation Manager will be released later this month; a target release date for the finsihed version hasn’t yet been announced.

Synology also announced new models of its NAS hardware. The DS415+, which goes on sale in late September, adds a hardware encryption engine but retains the same price ($699) as its predecessor the DS412+. The single-bay DS115j, aimed at home users wanting to run a home surveillance system, is already on sale for $129.
