Power outages are never fun, but they’re even worse if you get hit with one when you don’t have any candles around. Thankfully, Instructables user DualPhase shares a way to convert an orange into a candle in a pinch.
Using an orange, grapefruit or lemon and any type of oil, you can hollow out the fruit and use the middle stem as a wick. After hollowing it out, all you need to do is fill the skin with vegetable or olive oil and you’re all set. It’s a handy trick that certainly beats out using your phone for light. It probably smells a lot better too. You can find the full guide over on Instructables.

Seriously, how bad does your phone actually smell…?
