Trillian Astra 4.1 Beta Boosts Twitter And Facebook Functions

Windows: Trillian, a favourite instant messaging client with Lifehacker readers, is out with a 4.1 beta that ups its Twitter and Facebook functionality, integrates Windows 7 interface features, and smoothes out the already slick interface.

The major focus for Trillian 4.1 seems to be Twitter functionality and link grabbing. Links can now be clicked from any profile, status, tweet, or other screen, and Trillian recognises Twitter hash tags and @ replies and user names. The other big item worth noting is its full Windows 7 taskbar integration. New messages change the taskbar icon to add an icon, file transfers fill the icon from left to right, and video chat offers a full graphical preview, in case you need to jump away and tackle other things.

There’s a lot more that’s new in 4.1, and all of it put together seems like it’s worth the jump to a potentially buggier beta. Trillian is a free download for Windows systems only.
