Windows/Mac/Linux: Free and open-source office suite LibreOffice received a major update today. LibreOffice 4.0 can attach comments to selected text in documents, import Visio and Microsoft Publisher files, as well as get Firefox Persona themes.
Nearly 1500 code changes from contributors have been reviewed and merged with LibreOffice. Many of the major changes and additions improve the suite’s interoperability with other applications.
For example, it now integrates with Content Management Systems using the CMIS standard, it can import ink annotations from Word documents and integrate with Unity. Several performance improvements improve the way LibreOffice loads files, redraws images and handles spreadsheets.
