Every year around this time all my friends start sharing their “Best 9” photos of the year from Instagram. Do we all necessarily need to relive all those memories? Probably not. But they can be fun to look at and share nonetheless.
I’ve seen a few version of these come through my Instagram and Facebook feeds, including some that look manually cobbled together, but the best tool is probably the site aptly named 2017BestNine.com
With the site, you pop in your Instagram handle (or anyone else) and you’re given a collage of the nine photos you posted on Instagram this year that got the most likes.
If you’re a jackarse, you can post them with the total number of likes you received across all your Instagram pics throughout the year across the bottom and with a pre-set facetious “Thanks for all the likes!” message.
If you’re a reasonable person, you can click over to a “Photo only version” right below the collage and share that instead. Share that one. There’s also a link to take a look at your 2016 Best 9, if you want to relive the memories.
And even if you aren’t interested in creating your own Best 9 it can be interesting to see what the Best 9 was for some of the larger accounts you follow. For instance, looking at CNN’s Instagram feed or The New York Times can give you an idea of what some of the most popular stories of the year were.
That’s heck of a lot more interesting than that picture of the breakfast you had six months ago.
