You’re Carrying Your Baby’s Car Seat All Wrong

You’re Carrying Your Baby’s Car Seat All Wrong

We all know how to carry an infant car seat, right? You loop your arm through the handle, rest it on the inside crook of your elbow, and let it hang. Then later you pop an Panadol for the wrist, neck and back pain induced by dragging around at least 9kg at an awkward angle.

But — what if we’ve been doing it all wrong? That’s the totally revelatory assessment by Texas chiropractor Emily Puente, who filmed herself showing us the most ergonomic method to carry a car seat. She loops her arm through the handle, but then, get this: Twists her forearm and then grabs the hinge of the the handle with her palm. This hold distributes the weight of the seat more evenly and takes the strain off the upper back, shoulder and hip, making those long walks from car to grocery store less excruciating.
