If you wish your old, non-network printer could be accessible from anywhere in the house, PiMyLifeUp has a guide for turning a Raspberry Pi into a print server, making that old dump printer accessible from anywhere.
All you’ll need for this is a Rasberry Pi with Raspbian installed, Wi-Fi, and a USB printer. Once you get the Raspberry pi set up, you’ll install some software, set up the print server, the connect your printer to the Pi. It might take a little while to get everything set up, but it’s a pretty easy project overall. Head over to PiMyLifeUp for the full guide.

Typo: “…making that old dump printer accessible…”!
This is one of those overkill moments. Unless you have extra rasberry pi boards and require nothing extra to buy, this is a dumb hack. You can buy a print server for a lot less than you can all the required parts to build one out of a rasberry pi. I’m usually against buying things that only accomplish a single task, but in this case, I would make an exception.
Nice one, kenrob. Probably much more accurate to what’s out there. Well done.
I’ve been seriously considering doing this for the last few months. I’ve got a couple of Pi’s lying around not doing much.
