With age, laptop power cables get loose at the connection point. They can slip out if you move your laptop slightly, and you’ll need to readjust if you want to keep charging. YouTuber Kipkay has an easy, cheap DIY fix.
You’ll need a washer, a neodymium magnet, super glue and hot glue. The magnet and washer will cost you less than a buck, and you probably have the glue already. Just remember, the washer’s centre has to be big enough for your power cable’s end to fit through it.
Super glue the neodymium magnet to the laptop, close to the power jack. Push the cable through the washer and connect it to the laptop. Bring the washer to the point where it sticks to the magnet. Mark that point on the cable’s end.
Take out the cable and washer. Apply hot glue to the cable, and stick the washer to it. There you go. Now when you connect the cable to the laptop, the magnet and the washer will give you a resounding click and stay in place.
