VMware has released the latest version of its Fusion product line that brings Windows 10 virtualisation to Apple Macs. Here’s what you need to know about VMware Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro.
Last week saw the launch of Parallels Desktop 11 For Mac which allows users to run Windows 10 on Mac. Not to be outdone, VMware has released Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro, which performs a similar function with a few added extras.
In Fusion 8:
- Full Windows 10 support: You can even use Cortana, Microsoft’s digital personal assistant, when Fusion is in the background.
- OS X EI Capitain support: El Capitain is the successor to the Yosemite OS. It’s still in beta at this stage.
- Enhanced Graphics Engine with DirectX 10 and OpenGL 3.3: VMware is also boasting a 65 per cent and 15 per cent performance improvement with OpenGL and DirectX 9, respectively.
Fusion 8 Pro, which is designed for developers, IT professionals and advanced users, has all the features above and then some:
- Native vCloud Air integration: vCloud Air is VMware’s public cloud platform built on vSphere. You can connect with remote virtual machines running in vCloud Air through Fusion 8 Pro. You can also upload an existing virtual machine from Fusion for backup to the cloud.
