If you’ve just painted a room, obviously, it’s going to smell overwhelmingly like paint fumes. To help clear that smell out faster, just place a bucket of water in the centre of the room.

Opening some windows is ideal, of course, but you may not have that option or you may just want the smell to clear out faster. The water in the bucket helps by absorbing the solvent vapours left over from the paint, and the more buckets the better. You can use scented candles too — as they burn up some of the vapours and cover the smell — but the bucket method is safer because you can leave it unatended. If you still need a bit more fume clearing power, you can place bowls of white vinegar in the room.
