- IP Australia has ruled that Dick Smith must withdraw his OzEmite product following a trademark battle with rival breakfast spread AussieMite. “After years of confusion, I am delighted that the trademark umpire has ruled that the name AussieMite is ours and that Dick Smith must pull his copycat, same sounding product off the shelves,” AussieMite owner Roger Ramsey said. We wonder what Vegemite makes of all this.

I like Vegemite.
Also admire Dick Smith, he is a great Australian (pity he sold his name company. it lost its way).
Having tried OzEmite, it is not to my liking
AussieMite sounds like it is trying to take the battle up front with a product no one has ever hear of.
I agree, it sounds like sour grapes from a brand no one has heard of.
Though i haven’t tried OzEMite (having smelt Marmite and nearly puking, i refuse to go near anything but vegemite, though i have less of it since they change the jar sizes as a ploy to charge more)
Because I generally don’t like what Roger Ramsey has done here I am adding AussieMite to my list of things never to try.
Dick Smith at least had a product we had heard of.
I’ve tasted both brands. Aussiemite isn’t very good. Dick Smith is a great Australian with enormous vision and a true social awareness. I know which one I’d buy. Certainly Aussimite has garnered as much publicity as they can out of the debate.
