Having travelled to Western Australia on holidays I can tell you that there is so much to do that the biggest problem is narrowing it all down. Tourism WA has launched a new Android and iOS app to help out.
The app provides holiday planning tools, for longer holidays or day trips, as well as up-to-date lists of events. When you start the app, it asks you a series of questions such as whether you’re a native Sand Groper (the colloquial term for West Australian), the duration of your stay and which regions you plan to visit.
Once you’ve made your choices, it provides a list of places for meals, sightseeing, accommodation and tourist information. There’s also a transport guide and maps.
One of the great features of the app is that it allows you to download an offline version that includes maps so that you don’t need a constant data connection with your phone to use the app. This is important in WA as there is a significant part of the landmass that is just empty with no cellular coverage.
You can download the free app from either the iTunes App Store or Android Market.
