I Just Did 100 Burpees And Am Somehow Not Dead

We’re bringing the June fitness challenge home to a glorious conclusion today. Have you done burpees every single day? (Just some days? Hey, better than nothing.) I’m using some of my newfound strength for a grand finale — you should too.

But they are a phenomenal full-body workout, and it won’t kill you to try just one. Maybe two. (Or 10. You know where this is going.) We’re all going to be so strong by the end of the month!”]

You’ll recall that last week I realised I was on track to do around 1000 burpees for the month. Shortly after that, I was preparing to go on leave and I thought: you know, instead of doing 30 a day, I could do a couple of days of 100 and be done with it.

So I did. Last week, I did 100 burpees in a single session. Today I’m doing it again, for a month-long total of 1042. And I still have a day left — perhaps I will do one ceremonial burpee tomorrow.

Let me be clear: you don’t have to do 100 burpees. For me it was an exhausting but doable workout. The day after that first 100-burpee set I was a little bit sore, but not enough that I felt the need to take ibuprofen or avoid stairs.

If you’re feeling pretty good about your burpees so far, maybe there’s a special workout you could do today or tomorrow that would give you a similar feeling of accomplishment: 10, 20, 50 burpees? A timed challenge to see how many you can do in five or 10 or 15 minutes?

Whatever you choose, take care of yourself and have fun. And let’s talk about how the month went — did you get stronger? Faster? Achieve a month-long streak? If you did any burpees at all this month, I’m proud of you.
