Many parents spend the winter furiously checking Forecast Bar, awaiting that moment in the future when their kids can finally go outside instead of watching that same episode of Peppa Pig for the 18th time or asking you: “Do we have any more glitter? I spilled all of mine on the carpet.” Not Reddit user aggregate_jeff. To help beat cabin fever, this dad built an indoor play structure in his house.

“It got really cold this winter, and the kids spent two weeks inside,” he writes on Reddit. “There was a lot of poorly contained (and sometimes mildly destructive) energy, and it was difficult for them to be in the house with no outlet. I decided to do something about this.”

In Reddit’s DIY community, aggregate_jeff shared the details of how he created this play area of dreams, which features a rock climbing wall, monkey bars, swings and a punching bag. He used the CAD software system Onshape for the modelling, and shared his original design. The supplies were purchased at Home Depot and at Atomik Climbing Holds, though Australians can find supplies at Bunnings and Uncarved Block or Climbing Anchors. Check out the full instructions and photos on Reddit.

The play structure was a hit with both kids and adults. One commenter told the DIY dad: “I may be 43 but I am available for adoption.”
