Just because your PC was able to receive the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, there’s no guarantee it will be ready for the Creators Update. Computers running a number of different Atom processors are not supported by the most recent Windows 10 build.
Acer has produced a support document detailing which processors aren’t compatible.
So far, that list includes
- Atom Z2760
- Atom Z2520
- Atom Z2560
- Atom Z2580
Acer says they are working with Microsoft to resolve the issue.
Until then, if you’ve got a PC that has been messed up by a failed update, you can revert back to the previous build using Windows 10 recovery options.

You mean the update that was released in March?
I think it was an April release. But regardless, it’s been rolling out slowly, unless people jumped ahead to get it.
Creator’s update failed to install multiple times on my laptop – which to be fair, it’s a 5 year old laptop. But the failed attempts annoyed me so I’ve managed to work out a way to hide them. Same goes for my desktop (also 5 years old) – it failed to install, so I’ve just prevented it from doing so. I’ll stick with the Anniversary Update until I get new computers, probably next year.
