Windows 10 Creators Edition Not Compatible With All Windows 10 Systems

Just because your PC was able to receive the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, there's no guarantee it will be ready for the Creators Update. Computers running a number of different Atom processors are not supported by the most recent Windows 10 build.

Acer has produced a support document detailing which processors aren't compatible.

So far, that list includes

  • Atom Z2760
  • Atom Z2520
  • Atom Z2560
  • Atom Z2580

Acer says they are working with Microsoft to resolve the issue.

Until then, if you've got a PC that has been messed up by a failed update, you can revert back to the previous build using Windows 10 recovery options.

You mean the update that was released in March?

I think it was an April release. But regardless, it's been rolling out slowly, unless people jumped ahead to get it.

Creator's update failed to install multiple times on my laptop - which to be fair, it's a 5 year old laptop. But the failed attempts annoyed me so I've managed to work out a way to hide them. Same goes for my desktop (also 5 years old) - it failed to install, so I've just prevented it from doing so. I'll stick with the Anniversary Update until I get new computers, probably next year.
