Feeling Brave? Make Your Own Transparent Samsung Galaxy S8

Earmarked the Galaxy S8 as your new phone and want to do something more exciting to stand out than fiddling with the Bixby button? You could always crack out the industrial solvents and make the thing transparent, as demonstrated by this video from JerryRigEverything.

To get started, the glass back cover has to be removed. The camera and fingerprint scanner are attached, so those will also need to be removed (carefully).

From here, the modification is a two-step process, depending on how “pretty” you want it to be. You can use solvent and paint stripper to remove the colour and lamination underneath, leaving you with a clear piece of glass you can snap back onto the phone.

If you want to go further, you can undo some screws, take out the wireless charger and trim back a few other components, which gives the phone a more “X-ray” appearance.

Of course, doing this will void your warranty. If you stuff it up, you could try sending it back, but you’re going to have a tough time explaining why the back cover is suddenly transparent.
