If you’re pitting a bunch of cherries for baking or snacking, don’t toss them out. You can make a delicious cherry-flavored whipped cream with them.

Cherry pits, while inedible and poisonous, are still covered in plenty of useful cherry chunks and juice. Instead of throwing them out, Stella Sparks at Serious Eats recommends you put that cherry goodness to use. Take your leftover cherry pits and toss them in a cup of cream. Stick the cup in the fridge overnight, then strain the cream into a bowl with a little sugar, and whip it up. Sparks suggests you can also add some kirsch or rose water to the mixture to add a little colouring if you like.
