Android: We’ve all grown pretty accustomed to how handy predictive text can be, but if emoji is your preferred mode of communication, Swiftmoji, a new keyboard from SwiftKey, is going to be more your speed.
Swiftmoji works similarly to Apple’s promised emoji prediction coming in iOS 10 without the neat substitution tricks. Load up the keyboard, start typing and Swiftmoji hunts down relevant emoji based on the word you’ve typed. In our testing, the predictions were OK, typically offering up direct predictions, like the American flag emoji when you type America, but lacking much nuance with how you might personally use emoji. Still, it’s a faster way to type, and with SwiftKey behind it, it’s likely it will improve over time.
Though currently in the US iTunes App Store, Swiftmoji still hasn’t hit iOS in Australia. Hopefully it’s just a matter of time.
