Microsoft Releases New Windows Server 2016 And System Center 2016 Technical Previews

Microsoft has launched its latest technical previews of Windows Server 2016 and System Center 2016 which caters to hybrid cloud datacentres. We have the list of new features added in this release.

The vendor has emphasised that with Windows Server and System Center 2016 Technical Preview 4 it aims to bring "cloud-born technologies to the traditional datacentre" so IT administrators can make the most of existing resources.

Here are some of the key enhancements that have been added as part of the technical previews:

  • Application platform features: Includes new capabilities for Nano Server, Windows Server Containers updates and Hyper-V Containers.
  • Software-defined datacenter capabilities: Applicable across storage, networking, and compute. According to Microsoft, all this allows companies to "reduce cost and increase agility". The vendor has also added new security features.
  • Enhanced management capabilities: For advanced software-defined datacenter support and intuitive monitoring improvements. This includes new technologies such as patching of hosts while provisioning, simplified logical network creation, scale-out file server with Storage Spaces Direct and SAN storage automation

installs server 2016.... first thoughts... hmm this is just 2012 right?

good news. We are waiting to get this upgrade version.

As one of the new Hyper-V features in Server 2016, I would hope Microsoft could add the "Hyper-V containers" feature in Server 2012 RC as well.
